Mr Edward Lee Ophthalmologist

Edward Lee is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Surgeon.  He specialises in the medical and surgical management of retinal diseases and cataract surgery.

 

His NHS base is at Epsom & St Helier hospitals where he is the consultant lead for Cataract Surgery and Theatres.  He has been a consultant there since 2014 and holds a clinical excellence award.

 

Edward under took medical training at Oxford University where he won a scholarship.  His general ophthalmology training was based in London, and he then undertook further specialist surgical training at St Thomas’ and Moorfields Hospitals which are two of the foremost centres for such training.

 

Edward is involved in teaching and research in order to keep himself up to date with the latest developments and techniques.  He was awarded a prestigious Wellcome Trust Fellowship for his PhD relating to retinal treatments; he has over 40 publications in peer reviewed medical journals to date.

I operate with the very latest small gauge and high-speed vitrectomy techniques.  I have weekly surgical retina operating lists and can offer such surgeries under local anaesthetic with or without iv sedation, or general anaesthetic

Prompt treatment can improve outcomes, and careful investigations can reduce the risk of future recurrences.  I see a large number of affected people and am experienced with the full range of treatment options.
 

Scarring behind your lens implant is to be expected in time but is seen much more with some lens implant types than others.  I assess and offer to treat at the same visit whereever possible.
